In 1997 Wisconsin enacted the Sex Offender Registration and Community Notification Law. Wisconsin law provides that an individual who has been convicted of a “sex offense” must register as a sex offender. The purpose of the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry is to provide information to the public concerning the location of sex offenders.
