The State of Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP) maintains a Connecticut Sex Offender Registry which provides information on sex offenders living in Connecticut who are required to register with DESPP under Connecticut law. This registry contains only information about sex offenders who were convicted or sex offenders who have been found not guilty because of mental disease or defect, and who have been released into the community.
Offenders who were released into the community before October 1, 1988, are not required to register. Also, individuals who have been arrested or accused of a sex offense are not required to register unless the accusation results in a conviction or a finding of not guilty because of mental disease or defect. DESPP updates this information regularly, to try to assure that it is complete and accurate.
